Coronary aneurysms in patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.

Patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) have an increased risk of intracranial aneurysms. Reports on arterial aneurysms in other locations have not been conclusive. The present study was initiated to investigate the prevalence of coronary aneurysms. Thirty ADPKD patients who had undergone coronary angiography on clinical indication were identified, 15 after renal tran...

Chronic left ventricular pseudo-aneurysm after posterior myocardial infarction.

DESCRIPTION A 69-year-old man was seen among outpatients after an episode of chest pain. He was pain-free and haemodynamically stable. His electrocardiogram was normal, but a pan-systolic murmur was noted on examination. He was referred for outpatient exercise treadmill testing and transthoracic echocardiography. The echocardiogram demonstrated an akinetic basal posterior wall of the left ventr...

[The clinical significance of exercise-induced ST-segment elevation-electrocardiographic and arteriographic evaluation in 23 patients (author's transl)].

The significance of exercise-induced ST-segment elevation remains unsettled. We reviewed the treadmill tests of 840 consecutive patients and exercise-induced ST-segment elevation was noted in 29 (3.5%). Only eight of these (28%) stopped because of angina. Anterior myocardial infarction (AMI) was found on the resting electrocardiogram in 25 (85%). Angiographic studies performed on 21 showed crit...

Coronary artery aneurysms: a review of the natural history, pathophysiology, and management.

Several large clinical series have described the epidemiology and natural history of these malformations. The most common etiologic factor for coronary aneurysms is atherosclerotic coronary artery disease, but they can also be congenital or secondary to inflamm...

Congenital left ventricular diverticulum in a patient with coronary artery disease.

Congenital ventricular diverticulum is rare. We present the case of a 76-year-old man who underwent cardiac multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) for recent intermittent chest pain. Obstructive single-vessel coronary artery disease was diagnosed. A left ventricular diverticulum of about 10 x 9 mm was found incidentally. Conventional angiography confirmed both diagnoses. Ventricular diverticu...
